looking for a job

So I finally fixed all my links. It only took five minutes, I don't know why I didn't bother before.

My diary is probably due for an update. I got my thesis back too late to submit on time, so my master's is costing me an extra thousand dollars that I don't have. Seeing that it is already late, I haven't bothered to mail it off yet. I'm going to read it over one last time and send it off tomorrow. It hasn't exactly seemed like a pressing matter. Funnily enough, after reading through the final draft, my supervisor told me that it was too long. (What have I been telling him all summer?) Whatever. It'll be in the mail tomorrow.

I started seriously looking for a job. I've been sending off my resume to anything I am remotely qualified to do. I have an interview at a temp agency on tuesday; it was one of the automated ones online, which are rather depressing. You have a computer calling you by your first name and patronizingly telling you to dress nicely for your interview because "first impressions count." But it does seem like the only way to get an office job that pays over $9.50 an hour, unless, of course, you want to come in after hours as a janitor, in which case you can earn $14 under the table. Finding a job thats actually decent still depends largely on nepotism.

I spent yesterday looking for a blazer under $100 that doesn't make me look like a cow. It doesn't exist, so I'm just not going to wear a jacket. It's hot here anyway. None of my work clothes that I bought fit because I've gained so much weight since moving here. I have one pair of nice pants that fit, so they are now my "interview pants."

Geez, I guess I am more bitter than I thought I was.
