Dammit, I'm a catch!

So I had another job interview, which is very exciting, because I am coming to the four month mark of my unemployment. It was only a phone interview, but it actually went well, which is more than I can say about the other two I have been on. I've also been talking to a guy about being textbook saleman, but I don't think he likes me much. Anyway, in both of those other interviews, they looked at me like I was really wierd. I prefer interesting. One thing I have come to realize as I send off all these letters talking about myself, is that I have an unusual amount of creative energy. As I was asking Di yesterday, do any of you know anybody else that can honestly say that they translated a novel in their spare time before graduating from college? Dammit, I'm a catch. The funny thing about finding work is that you aren't so much going to convince somebody that you will be the best at the job, so much as you are convincing them that they wouldn't mind having you around all the time.

This new job is to be an in-house corporate copy writer. Basically, I would be writing spam. This is very exciting for me. I spent the morning writing one as an excercise for them and it was actually harder than I expected. They have all kinds of funny corporate lingo and little slogans; right now I find it amusing. I imagine if they actually hire me, it will stop being funny pretty quickly, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Anyway, the old corporate manager man that I talked to sounded like he thought I was interesting, not weird, so maybe he will hire me. I made him laugh a little, which is always a positive. The only thing is that the job is in Long Beach. All I know is that if I move there, I will be able to take a ferry to Catalina. I've always wanted to go there because I think it is a pretty word and I've watched too many old movies. It seems thrilling somehow.
