stupid Giaganto
I have finally heard back from Giaganto Inc. and I am still highly not impressed with their human resources people. I pass their phone screen last Wendesday, and Brad the recruiter tells me that they would love to have me come up and interview. I tell him I could come up this week, but I need to double check my schedule first (ie, ask my mom if i can borrow her car for a week). He tells me to send an email confirmation saying which days would work the best for me. I write back saying Monday or Tuesday, because I could drive up over the weekend. I also said that any time this week would be best. He doesn't respond. I am left waiting by the phone so that I know whether or not I am supposed to be driving to Northern California. It is just rude not to send me an email back and say that those days are probably too soon and that someone will be calling me in a few days. I also had to make another inteview at a magazine for much later in the week than the editor wanted because I am thinking that I will probably be interviewing at Giaganto on Monday or Tuesday. So I'm already pissed.
I don't hear anything at all until about 7pm last night I get a call from the schduling lady. I missed the call because I had left my phone in another room so I left her a voice message. She calls back this morning (so I don't actually talk to anyone for almost a week after the phone screen) to ask me what the best days are for me, so I say Monday or Tuesday next week. So she says, "Oh, any Monday or Tuesday?" I say, "No, I want to get in as soon as I can. What days do you have available?" She doesn't know. Why would she call me without this information? Moreover, why doesn't she have a program at her desk to tell her when people are available so we can just arrange it over the phone in a single call? Because now I am waiting for her to call me back, which is just ridiculous. Especially since they aren't exactly great at calling people back. Anyway, she then says something along the lines of, "So Mondays and Tuesdays are best for you?" So I say, "No, sooner is best for me" and I tell her that I am flexible. I don't want an interview two weeks from now or later, especially since I have already been dealing with them for a month. I want one next week. Do they not understand that I am unemployed? That my schedule isn't exactly crowded up with previous engagements? And that the longer a person is unemployed the harder it is for them to drive up to another city for an extended interview because they don't have any money? Or that I may have other job offers that I need to respond to? This has got to be the most inefficient interview process that I have ever experienced. I'm really irritated.
