why would you want to sit out here with all us dummies?

So I've been busy, or not so busy, depends on how you look at it, I guess. I haven't been working. My last day was Friday. I "interviewed" to stay on there, but as the human resources lady said, "Xanthium, you're so educated...why would you want to sit out here with all us dummies?" They all seemed mistified that I would settle for a steady paycheck and told me that it would be bigger and better things for me. It was wierd. I did finish knitting an entire sweater while I worked there. So I guess I impressed them with my manifold talents. I'm applying to grad school, because at least then no one is going to wonder if I am overqualified and be so danged suspicious of my motives. I already contacted two old professors, who were very encouraging, wrote a proposal, requested my transcripts and re-signed up to take the GRE. I guess I'm well on my way. My proposal is brilliant, if I do say so myself, so I feel good about that. Paddy is intent on me going to Stanford, I think because it would be convenient (and it is a good school, after all), which is fair enough. I already did leave him once for grad school. Anyways, stuff with Paddy is all good--I'm excited he's moving to the city. Getting the keys on Wens. I'm helping him pick out a couch this weekedn--I think he's decided to have a grown-up apartment and buy a leather one. It's going to be great.
