so, you know the bart?
So I've been busy at my new job. It isn't any better, but this morning seems relatively calm, so I'm updating here instead of finishing my personal statement for UCLA. Maybe because I don't particularly want to move to LA, I'm not sure. Anyways, I'm almost done with it, but, it does have to be postmarked by tomorrow, so I will finish it later. All of my letters aren't in yet anyway, but there is little I can do about that.
Paddy and I had a dinner-and-a-movie date last night. Usually if we meet up during the week, I make dinner at home and then we go to a bar, but I got sick from all the rain over the weekend, so we decided to meet up instead. We went to the Stanford theater and saw this old Hitchcock movie, Lifeboat, which was based on a Steinbeck story. As Paddy pointed out, they don't make movies anymore that take place entirely in a single enclosed space with six characters that talk the entire time. If they do, it is generally really bad and "artsy." It was a decent movie, albeit a bit sad.
Last weekend he finally bought furniture, so that is over. He got a blue/green sofa, very tasteful and modern. It's funny that it was such a big deal (though it is bound to be when you are spending that much money) when you never cared before. At all. I can't tell you how many years he used that nasty, greasy futon with a half broken frame in Davis. It was on par with Di's and mine in Montreal with an entirely broken frame (by the end, itwas just propped up on the floor) and covered in cigarette ash. He also bought an antique wardrobe from this lady from Galway, I think because they bonded over the whole Irish thing. Anyway, what is funniest, is that when we were on way to Berkeley, we both looked around and realized that the fabric on his new couch was
