happy things

It's been a year since Paddy and I got back together. We celebrated this weekend a little. We went to dinner at a campy opera-themed Italian restaurant (real red roses on the tables--classy) near his house. Drank a bit too much (cheers to us, as we kept saying). We talked about our relationship--happy things. We even talked a little about when we dated in college, which we almost never bring up. He bought me some French mystery novels he has been telling me about for the past year. I got him a book I thought he might like too. He also got me a huge bouquet of flowers. He said he asked the crazy florist lady to pick together something big and bright; he was slightly embarassed at the result, but I liked them. I think he almost didn't give them to me because he didn't think they were that pretty. It was good.

We went to the SF MoMA on Sunday because they had an exhibit on Picasso and his influence on American art; we've been meaning to go for a month--it was pretty good. I'd never been to that museum before. I liked maybe a third of their regular collection (not counting photography, which I wasn't really interested in seeing); the rest was tedious.

Since we aren't going to Japan, we have to think of somewhere else to go for a week this summer. He's going to Ireland for his mother's 60th birthday and retirement at the end of June, so he doesn't want to leave the country again so soon. Maybe Hawaii.
